National Living Wage must be paid to employees from 1st April 2016

Deborah Pegg, Solicitor in Astle Paterson’s Employment Department, discusses the impending deadline by which time all employers must pay their workers the National Living Wage.

Deborah explained “The new compulsory National Living Wage for workers aged 25 and over will be set at £7.20 per hour – 50p per hour higher than the current National Minimum Wage.

For workers who are under the age of 25, the National Minimum Wage will still apply.

Employers must ensure that they are meeting these pay requirements – failure to do so could result in a fine of up to £20,000.00 for each and every employee who is found to be being underpaid.”
