Expert legal support for the creative industries –rights, finance, production.
Deborah is a highly experienced commercial and corporate legal expert who has specialised in film, TV and entertainment law for more than a decade.
But Deborah’s experience in the industry dates back even further, having worked at Teddington Studios on programmes including Jonathan Creek & Harry Hill’s TV Burp – and then in advertising post-production for global brands such as McCann and TBWA.
Deborah’s legal specialism began in 2003 as a paralegal at a leading London media law firm, where she trained and qualified as a solicitor in film and TV. She has also worked as in-house legal counsel for a well-known investment and advisory group in the media and entertainment sector and, more recently, for a film and production company.
Media clients have included producers, financiers, distributors and sales agents – dealing with a wide range of legal issues associated with finance and media rights.
Credits for Deborah’s legal work include: the Howard Marks biopic Mr Nice, Dread, Boogie Woogie – and We Need To Talk About Kevin, nominated for a Golden Globe, BAFTA and Palme d’Or (and for which Deborah was described in the media as ‘Best Supporting Lawyer’!).
Deborah is a member of London’s prestigious Reform Club and has appeared as a guest lecturer for the Production Guild and the National Film & Television School.
She has been a key member of the Astle Paterson team since 2014 and would welcome the opportunity to support your team.
