Paul Walters, Solicitor in Astle Paterson’s Family Department discusses the Court’s recent decisions in the cases of Gohil v Gohiland Sharland v Sharland.
Paul said, “The Supreme Court has today decided two cases in which the Court confirmed that two former wives’ do have the right to re-open cases against their former husbands on the grounds that their husbands had not made full and frank disclosure of their financial position.
The case underlines the fact that it is absolutely essential in divorce proceedings for the estranged spouses to be honest as to their financial position otherwise a case can be reopened – sometimes years later – at very considerable cost.”
