Congratulations to all the winners and other highly commended bodies of the Star Volunteer Awards 2016

Congratulations to all the winners and other highly commended bodies of the Star Volunteer Awards 2016 which took place on at Ashfield House, Ashby Road, Burton upon Trent during the evening of Friday 26th February 2016.

Astle Paterson had the privilege of sponsoring the Volunteer Team of the Year award at the Star Volunteer Awards 2016 – which is put on by Support Staffordshire (East Staffordshire).

Volunteers give up their time with no expectation of reward but the Star Volunteer Awards 2016 was a chance to recognise their contribution.

The event, which was hosted by Andrew Griffiths MP, was a great success and Astle Paterson were pleased to present the award for Volunteer Team of the Year 2016 to sarac, a charity based in Burton upon Trent which supports people age 13 and over who have been affected by rape, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation and domestic abuse.

One other voluntary body was also honoured and a received commendation for their efforts and dedication as a Volunteer Team – Harvey Girls Dads 4 Dads, a Burton upon Trent based team which seeks to bring dads together to develop their parenting confidence and skills through a drop in centre at Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre each Saturday between 10.00am – 12.00pm.

Liam O’Shea, Director, and Sally Wileman, Practice Manager, attended the award ceremony on behalf of Astle Paterson.   Following the ceremony Liam O’Shea said “It should be a source of pride for the people of Burton upon Trent and the surrounding area that so many of their own people are prepared to provide so much help, assistance and support in the community without asking for anything in return.

It is at award ceremony’s such as tonight’s that we can honour those such people and as a business based at the heart of Burton upon Trent we hope to continue to support events such as the Star Volunteer Awards to ensure the people who are giving up their time to help others receive the recognition that they deserve.

Well done to all who were nominated and congratulations to all of the winners and others who received commendations.”
