Deborah Pegg, Solicitor inĀ both Astle Paterson’sĀ Media, Entertainment, TV & Film and Commercial departments discusses the effect of The Gender Pay Gap Regulations.
Deborah said, āThe Gender Pay Gap Regulations came into force on 6thĀ April 2017 and require any employer with over 250 employees to publish a āsnapshotā of certain pay data, which they have obtained over a 12 month period.
The aim of the Regulations is to highlight any differences between the average pay of male and female employees of larger companies or groups.ā
Deborah continued, āThe information required to be published relates to all ārelevant employeesā within the organisation and includes apprentices and also, potentially, some casual workers and contractors.ā
Deborah concluded, āThe first reporting date is next year, 6thĀ Ā April 2018, but companies affected by the new legislation should considering the requirements now in terms of, first, what information will need to be reported; and secondly, preventing possible reputational issues arising from their publication of the data.ā
