Helen said “People do not like thinking about old age – however it is crucial that regardless of your age now, you start planning for your future.
One aspect of getting older which is a cause of concern for a number of people is the potential costs of care fees should you be unable to continue to live in your own home.
As healthcare improves people are living longer and will require care assistance either at home or in another environment.”
Helen continued “The BBC have recently launched a Care Calculator which gives a comprehensive calculation of how much care may actually cost an individual.
The BBC Care Calculator highlights the increasing concern that the new funding system due to take effect in 2016 will actually cost the individual considerably more than the headline £72,000.00.
It is a very useful tool to use when highlighting the potential implications for an individual’s assets should they need care in the future.”
