Astle Paterson Buck the Trend

Following a recent report published in The Law Society Gazette, it is clear that Astle Paterson is bucking the trend when it comes to recognising and rewarding the talent of women.

In readiness of International Women’s Day (Saturday 8th March 2014) The Law Society Gazette reported that “Lucy Scott-Moncrieff, chair of the Society’s equality and diversity committee, said that 90 years after Carrie Morrison became the first female solicitor, women now comprise half the profession but are still not making it to partner status in equal numbers to men.

According to the Society’s 2012 statistical review, of 30,289 partners in private practice, 73% (22,199) are men and only 27% (8,090) women.”

After reading the report, Naomi Wilson, Director at Astle Paterson noted that “Of the six Directors at Astle Paterson, three are women.   As is clear from the make-up of our boardroom, we recruit strong candidates based on their merits and abilities.   We believe it is as a direct result of this policy that Astle Paterson is a leading law firm in Burton upon Trent and Staffordshire.”
