Astle Patersonās specialist conveyancing lawyers can also help you with leasehold issues – whether itās a dispute between you and your landlord or management company, extending a lease, or purchasing the freehold of your leasehold property.
There are two different forms of property ownership in the UK- freehold and leasehold.
Freehold means you own the building and the land outright.
Leasehold means you lease the property for a set number of years, however somebody else is the freeholder. The leaseĀ can be for as long 999 years or as short as 40 years.
Leaseholders tend to pay maintenance fees or a service charge as well as a ground rent and may have to comply with various restrictions put in place by the freeholder when the lease was first granted.
If you have any questions about your leasehold property please contact us.
