Nigel Smith

Bio

With over 40 years legal experience (30 years’ post qualification experience), Nigel Smith is a Solicitor specialising in Family & Divorce law at Astle Paterson, having joined the firm following its merger with Smith Woodcock Solicitors in 2017 (of which Nigel was a Director and co-founder.)

Nigel is a member of the Law Society Family Law Accreditation scheme (previously known as the Family Law Panel), a trained Collaborative lawyer and a member of Resolution.

Born and bred in Derby, Nigel has worked in Legal Practices within the Derbyshire and Staffordshire area throughout his career. Nigel’s Family & Divorce law knowledge is extensive and his attention to detail a huge asset to any client. Nigel is able to offer detailed advice to guide his clients through the range of legal solutions available to them which cater to their individual needs.

When not working, Nigel enjoys (most of the time) watching Derby County with his son and a pint before the game.  Being a reluctant audience member, with his wife and son at various concerts including Glastonbury nine times.  Gardening, DIY and on a summer evening, sitting listening to the birds with a glass of wine.
