Astle Paterson’s Liam O’Shea to take part in the London Marathon for the Brain and Spine Foundation

As reported in today’s Burton Mail, Astle Paterson’s very own Liam O’Shea is taking part in the London Marathon for the Brain and Spine Foundation.

Liam, a Director and Solicitor at Astle Paterson is taking part to raise funds for the Brain and Spine Foundation, a charity which provides support and quality information to people affected by brain and spine conditions, in order to reduce anxiety and help inform their choices.

Liam’ s father Danny suffered a brain tumour in his mid-40s and 20 years later suffered a bleed on the brain.

Liam said, “My dad suffered from both a brain tumour in his mid-40s and, later on in his life, a serious bleed on his brain from which he endured prolonged periods of treatment and rehabilitation – he still suffers from the effects today.

The survival rate for people who suffer brain tumours and stroke has improved in the last few decades, but those people who do survive are often left with long-term problems and recovering from brain and spine conditions and procedures can be a slow and frustrating process.”

Liam continued, “The marathon will be a massive challenge for me – I intend to train hard, raise as much money as possible for this great cause and give it my all come race day.

I started my marathon training plan after New Year and am currently training five times a week.”

Liam concluded “Any money you can give in support of the Brain and Spine Foundation will be greatly appreciated by not only me, but also by the people you will help through funding the charity.”

Astle Paterson’s staff are very proud of Liam and intend to support him through his training and on the big day of the Virgin Money London Marathon which will take place on Sunday, 24th April 2016.
