Martin Astle

Solicitor, Notary Public & Director

Martin was admitted as a solicitor in June 1963 and as a Notary Public in 1983. For the last 37 years he has specialised in divorce focusing upon the question of ancillary relief (financial provision) with particular emphasis upon business assets – whether self employed or a Company Director. He has dealt with cases at all levels – the County Court, the High Court and the Court of Appeal (as to the later, without failure). Married with two grown up daughters Martin’s interests include lawn mowers, golf, cricket and the Second World War.



Paul Walters

Paul spent several years in general practice prior to joining the Magistrates Court Service in 1971 following qualification as solicitor. He joined Flint Bishop and Barnett in 1972 becoming an equity partner in 1974 and heading the firm’s large Family Law department for over 30 years where he specialised in high value ancillary relief, including multi-million pound cases. Paul’s specialisms are Family Law, Contested Wills and Inheritance Claims. His interests include walking [3 dogs), Derby County, cricket, golf and scrabble.



John Trubshaw

B.A., Solicitor & Director

John qualified in 1980 and in 1984 became a partner in the largest firm in Stafford where he was a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel Head of Family Law Department, LSC Franchise Representative and Chairman of an LSC Partnership until amalgamation. He has a wide background knowledge in all law and business practice with 19 years’ experience of complex divorce, financial and children cases as a family law specialist He joined Bakewells (predecessors to Astle Paterson) in 2001 and is now a Director. Married with two children John has varied interests including outdoor pursuits.



Liam O'Shea

LL.B (Hons)

Liam qualified as a Solicitor in September 2007 and has been with Astle Paterson throughout his training contract. He is experienced in civil litigation, family and residential conveyancing as well as debt recovery and landlord and tenant disputes.
Liam has joined the family department but will continue to provide
general debt and landlord and tenant advice. A keen Coventry City supporter he
also plays squash.
